Remember in math class you would hear the teacher say “give the power of…”? Superscripts, also called indices, are your way of expressing “power.”
Need a shortcut? I provide one below:
How do you superscript in Google Docs?
Highlight the text to be superscripted
Windows: Ctrl + period
If you prefer visual learning, follow the step-by-step guide below to manipulate visual effects:
Use the toolbar
The first and most basic method of adding superscripts involves using the toolbar at the top of the document.
1. Highlight the part of the text to be superscripted
First, highlight the text by dragging the cursor over the part of the document that needs to be superscripted.
2. Select Format on the toolbar
Next, go to the toolbar at the top of the page and click on the button labeled Format.
3. Select Text and then Superscript
From there, a drop-down menu will appear on the screen. Find and click the button labeled Text.
Another pop-up menu will appear. When finished, select the Superscript option. After completing these steps, you can successfully insert the superscript!
