Bluetooth headphones are quite common nowadays and provide the user with a number of new multimedia possibilities. First of all, this is the removal of the restriction on the length of the cable: the appearance of wireless headphones made it possible to completely get rid of the wires that interfere with everyone.
All headphones of this type work with Bluetooth wireless technology. Most models have a 10 meter audio transmission distance limitation. The latest models, which comply with the latest wireless data transmission standard, are capable of receiving sound at a distance of 50 meters from the signal source.
Today, it is not problematic to pick up and purchase wireless headphones. They have different characteristics, and differ in the duration of work, sound quality, and their design (in-duct or overhead). You can find a large number of models both in online stores and in local electronics stores.
In the case of using the headphones with a phone or tablet, you will not have any difficulties: just connect them via the Bluetooth settings on your device. However, if you want to use them in tandem with a computer or laptop, you may have connection issues, which will be discussed below.
The presence of a bluetooth module
First of all, you should make sure that the device (computer or laptop) in use has a special module responsible for wireless communication using Bluetooth technology.
To do this, turn on your device and go to the device manager. You can do this in two ways: open Start – Control Panel – Device Manager, or open the command execution menu (Win + R) and enter the devmgmt.msc command in the window that appears. The device manager will open in front of you – there you can see both the peripherals and all the components of your device. However, you are interested in the “Bluetooth Radios” tab, which must contain at least one component. The absence of this section means that the wireless data transmission module is not installed in your computer or laptop.
In this case, you will need to purchase an external Bluetooth module connected via USB. Its cost will not exceed $ 7-8, and you can buy it, as in the case of headphones, in online stores or electronics stores. Now, you need to check the computer readability of the connected module: check through the device manager whether the module is recognized and whether it works stably.
How to connect bluetooth headphones
The connection algorithm for wireless headphones is the same for both laptops and personal computers. Installation differences are only in operating systems: below we will consider the process of connecting to the three most popular operating systems: Windows 7, Windows 8 / 8.1 and Windows 10.
Connecting wireless headphones to Windows 7
After the Bluetooth signal transmitter on the device you are using is configured, you can proceed to the headphone connection step.
First of all, you must turn on the power of the headset in use and make the device discoverable. This is done differently in each device: you need to study the instruction manual and find the answer to this question there.
Then, open the Start menu, and go to the “Device Manager” tab. All peripherals connected to the PC / laptop will be located there: keyboards, mice, printers, and other devices.
Click on the “Add device” button, then select the type, and then the device itself.
Throughout the connection, you will be accompanied by an interactive instruction, which will give you the opportunity to set everything up correctly and quickly the first time.
From now on, the headphones will automatically connect to your device if they are in range of signal reception.
Connecting Wireless Headphones to Windows 8 / 8.1
The procedure for connecting Bluetooth headphones is different for different operating systems. If you are using Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, then in order to connect a bluetooth headset to your computer, you need to do the following:
First of all, turn on the headphones you are using and put them in “pairing” (connection) mode. Then, open Start, type Bluetooth in the search bar, and find the wireless settings menu in the list.
Turn on the Bluetooth module on the device you are using and find the headphones that you will pair with it. After that, click on the “Link” button.
After that, the settings menu will open in an instructional form, and you can quickly set up the headset you are using.
Connecting wireless headphones to Windows 10
Windows 10 is the latest OS from Microsoft that you can connect your headset to in two ways. Both ways to connect a wireless earphone to a computer will be presented below.
The first method is fast enough to execute and is in demand by many users. To do this, you need to open the Action Center, in which you find the “Bluetooth” tab. In the window that appears, you need to find your headphones, and then connect them.
The second method is more time consuming: you need to open Start, go to the “Settings” section, then to “Devices” – “Bluetooth devices”. After that, turn on the wireless module, find your headset and connect it to the device you are using.
