If you paid for something in cash and watched the cashier hold your money at a light source, you saw the watermark in action. Watermarks are faint graphics or text added to the paper as an anti-piracy layer. Watermarks also appear in electronic documents to protect against download and copying. Because watermarks are often splattered across the page, they can distract or hide important text elements. Unlock Microsoft Word document by removing its watermark with just a couple of clicks.
Open Microsoft Word and go to the File tab. Click Open and navigate to the watermarked Word document to delete. Double-click the file that opens in a new window.
Click the Page Layout tab at the top of the screen. Click the Watermark button in the middle of the ribbon / toolbar below the tab.
Click Remove Watermark and the watermark will be removed from the document.
Save the document by clicking “File” and “Save As”. Enter a new name for the file to avoid overwriting the original watermarked version.
